One conversation for each family's care circle — client, partner, primary doula, and backup doula — with each family's thread separate and private.
Get started for freeSchedule a demo →A doula practice serves multiple families at once, and each family's communication should involve the right participants — client, partner, primary doula, backup doula, and sometimes the practice owner. BloomText group conversations create a single thread for each family where everyone sees every message. Unrelated families are in separate conversations and cannot see each other. Files, photos, and birth plans are shared within the thread. No app is required for clients or partners.
A client texts the primary doula about a prenatal question. The partner separately texts about logistics. The backup doula has no idea either conversation happened. The practice owner learns about the situation days later when someone mentions it in person.
This is the natural result of one-to-one personal-phone texting. Everyone communicates, but no one sees the full picture. Important messages get relayed second-hand, details are lost, and coverage gaps go unnoticed.
Some doulas create WhatsApp or iMessage group chats. These work for the conversation, but they are not HIPAA compliant when they include health information, they live on personal devices, and the practice has no organizational record. When a doula leaves, the group chat goes with them.
Others try email threads. Emails work for long-form communication but not for the quick back-and-forth of doula care — "I'm having contractions," "heading your way," "partner is picking up the older child." By the time the email chain is sorted, the conversation has moved to personal texts anyway.
A group conversation for one family must not expose another family's information. In a consumer group text, one wrong contact added to the wrong thread and a family's private details are visible to someone who should never see them. The structure needs to be one conversation per family, with no accidental overlap.
One conversation per family. The client, their partner, the primary doula, the backup doula, and the practice owner are all in the same thread. Everyone sees every message and knows who sent it. Files — birth plans, prenatal instructions, insurance documents — are shared in the thread and accessible to all participants.
Each family is in a separate conversation. A doula who supports ten families has ten separate threads. No family can see another family's conversation, and no contact from one family appears in another's thread.
Create a group conversation for a family and add the participants — client, partner, primary doula, backup doula. Clients and partners receive secure links over SMS and join without downloading an app. Every message is visible to all participants in the thread. See HIPAA-compliant group texting for how group conversations work in BloomText.
When the primary doula is at a birth, the backup doula sees the thread and can respond. When the practice owner wants to check in on a family, the full history is there. See HIPAA texting for doulas for the full doula workflow.
