Send a message later

Write a message now and schedule it with Send later. It waits in the chat as a Scheduled bubble you can edit, move, send now or cancel.

Who can do this: Everyone · Web and desktop

Send later lets you write a message now and pick when it goes out, for example a reminder the morning before a visit. Until then it waits in the chat as a dashed Scheduled bubble.

Schedule a message

  1. From the Inbox, open the chat you want to text, for example Maria Gonzalez.
  2. Type your message in the message box, as you would for any text.
  3. Click the arrow beside Send to open Send later.
  4. Pick Tomorrow for 9:00 AM, or Pick date & time… for any other time.
  5. A dashed Scheduled bubble shows the message, when it sends and who scheduled it.
  6. Until then, use Edit, Change time, Send now or Cancel under the bubble.

Each scheduled message sends once. It doesn't repeat.

Good to know

  • Send later also offers Later today on weekdays and Monday or Next Monday. The panel shows the time zone the times are in. If it's wrong, click Change.
  • Only the person who scheduled a message can edit it or change its time. In a patient chat, teammates on the team and organization admins see it as Scheduled by name and can cancel it.
  • In an SMS chat, a scheduled message must fit in one text (1,600 characters).
  • You can't schedule a message with files attached.
  • Chats with scheduled messages show under the Scheduled filter in the Inbox.
  • If a scheduled message can't be sent, its bubble says Not sent and why.
  • To send one message to many patients at a set time, schedule a broadcast instead. See Send now or schedule.
