Check delivery and fix failed messages

See whether your message is still sending, sent or seen, and resend one that could not be sent.

Who can do this: Everyone · Web and desktop

Small signs under your message show where it is: still on its way, sent, or seen. If a message could not be sent, you can send it again with one click, without retyping it.

Before you start

  • These signs show under messages you sent.
  • The check shows under your most recent message in the chat.

Check whether a message went through

  1. In the Inbox, click the chat, for example Maria Gonzalez.
  2. Type your message in the Type your message... box at the bottom of the chat.
  3. Press Send, the paper-plane button. A small spinner under the message means it is still on its way.
  4. When the spinner turns into a check and Sent, BloomText received your message and sent it on. It doesn't confirm that the patient's phone got it.

See who saw it

  1. When teammates open the chat, Seen by and their small avatar dots appear under your message.
  2. Point at the avatars to see a list of their names.
  3. A plain text message doesn't send a read receipt. If you need to know a patient got a text, ask them to reply.

A carrier can also fail to deliver a text after the check appears. When you send a secure text with a link, the patient appears in Seen by once they open the chat. See Confirm the patient viewed the message.

Send a failed message again

A weak signal or a dropped connection can stop a message before it reaches BloomText.

  1. In the Inbox, open the chat with the family you need to text.
  2. Type your message as usual.
  3. Press Send.
  4. If the connection drops first, a red alert and Could not be sent show under the message.
  5. When your connection is back, click Retry next to the alert. You don't need to retype anything.
  6. The alert clears and the message is sent once.

Good to know

  • Check for Could not be sent before you leave a chat, so a failed message gets sent again.
  • A file that fails shows its own reason under the file, such as a file over the 2 GB limit. When Retry can't help, it doesn't appear.
