Messaging
Start a new chat
Open New chat with the + button, find a coworker, team or patient in To, and open the chat. Nothing is sent until your first message.
Who can do this: Everyone · Web and desktop
New chat starts a conversation with anyone you can reach in BloomText: a coworker, a team or a patient. You pick who it's for, and the chat opens, ready for your first message.
Before you start
- To text a patient, they need to be saved as a patient in your organization. If they aren't, use Add a patient in New chat (see A new patient, from first text to ongoing thread).
- SMS text needs SMS Messaging on your plan and a team with a texting number.
Start a chat
- In the Inbox, click the round + button at the top of the chat list. New chat opens.
- In To, type a name. Coworkers, teams and patients show up as you type.
- Click the person under Patients, for example Olivia Brooks, to add them to the chat. Coworkers and teams are listed under Coworkers and teams.
- Click Message at the top right.
- Check Send as. Secure text is encrypted and OK for health details. Click it to switch to SMS text, a regular text from your team's number with no health details.
- Click Open chat.
- The new chat opens, ready for your first message.
Nothing is created or sent until you send that first message.
Good to know
- If you already have a chat with that person, New chat says so, and Message opens the existing chat.
- Pick more than one person and the button reads Create group instead of Message. See Group conversations.
- SMS text works for one patient only, with no coworkers or teams in the chat.
- Not sure which to pick? See Secure vs. insecure texting.
