Add a phone number

Pick a local number for a new office or team from your plan's Additional SMS Numbers, and learn how to add or release extra numbers.

Who can do this: Organization admins · Web and desktop

Need a second phone number for a new office or team? Each extra phone number is a paid line on your plan, listed under Additional SMS Numbers. When your plan includes a number you haven't picked yet, choose it yourself with the area code your patients know.

Before you start

  • You need to be an organization admin. Only admins see the Plan tab.
  • Each additional number is billed monthly. See Pricing and plans for the current price.

Pick a second or extra phone number

  1. Click Settings, the gear at the bottom of the left bar.
  2. Click Organizations.
  3. Click your practice.
  4. Open the Plan tab.
  5. Find Additional SMS Numbers. It shows how many extra numbers your plan includes.
  6. Click Select an additional phone number.
  7. Type an area code, for example 503. If none are free, try a nearby one.
  8. Click the number you want.
  9. Click Continue. A bar at the top confirms the number has been assigned.
  10. The number now counts as used on your plan.

Add another paid number

If Select an additional phone number doesn't appear, every number on your plan is already in use. Email support@bloomtext.com to add another number to your plan.

Release a number you no longer need

To release a number and stop its monthly charge, email support@bloomtext.com with the number. Once it's released, texts to that number no longer reach your practice, so let patients know your current number first.

Good to know

  • Your plan's contact allowance is shared across all your numbers. A second number doesn't add more contacts.
  • To have a number's texts land in a particular team's inbox, email support with the number and the team. See Create, edit and delete teams.
  • Some practices can keep their existing number instead of getting a new one. Email support to check whether yours is eligible.
