Fix missing phone notifications

Notifications not working? Check this device's push setting, make sure the chat isn't muted, and check your phone's own settings.

Who can do this: Everyone · Web, desktop, iPhone and Android

When notifications stop working

If texts are arriving but you aren't getting alerts, work through these checks in order. Most of the time, push is off for the device or the chat is muted.

Check this device

  1. Click Settings, the gear at the bottom of the left bar.
  2. Click Notifications.
  3. Make sure Enable push notifications on this device is on. In the phone app, it's called Push notifications. If it is already on, turn it off and on again. That registers this device for alerts again, which helps after a new phone or a reinstall.

Check the chat

  1. Click Chats in the left bar.
  2. Open the chat you missed alerts from.
  3. Click the ... menu at the top right of the chat.
  4. Click Manage notifications.
  5. Make sure the chat isn't muted under Mute Chat, and that Mention alerts isn't set to Nothing. If the chat matters most to you, turn on Priority Chat.

Check your phone

  1. Open your phone's Settings and find BloomText under notifications. Make sure notifications are allowed. If the phone is blocking them, the BloomText app says so under Push notifications. Tap Allow notifications or Turn on in phone settings, whichever it shows.
  2. Check that Focus, Do Not Disturb or battery saver isn't holding back alerts.
  3. Ask a coworker to send you a test message.

Good to know

  • Quiet hours you set under Do Not Disturb in BloomText mute push alerts on all your devices. Check Settings > Notifications if alerts stop at the same time each day.
  • In the desktop app, if your computer is blocking BloomText, click Open notification settings under the push setting.
  • Still no alerts? Email support@bloomtext.com. Don't include patient details in your email.
