For Patients & Families

You got a text from your care team

Got a text from your clinic or therapist through BloomText? Here's how to read it, reply securely, send a photo, and stop texts. No account or app needed.

Who can do this: Patients and families · No account needed

Got a text from BloomText? Your therapist, clinic or care team uses BloomText to text patients and families. You read and answer their messages from your own phone. You don't need an account, a password or an app.

Two kinds of texts

  • A regular text. It reads like any other text message. Reply the same way you reply to anyone.
  • A secure message. The text says, for example, "Maple Grove Pediatric Therapy just sent you a secure message. Click the link to read it," and has a link that starts with https://blm.care/. Your care team uses secure messages for private health details, so the message itself stays off your phone's text history. You may get the same kind of link by email.

Read and reply to a secure message

  1. Tap the link in the text or email. The chat opens in your phone's web browser.
  2. Check the name next to From: at the top. It's your care team.
  3. Read the messages. The newest one is at the bottom.
  4. Tap the Type your message... box and type your reply.
  5. Tap Send (the paper plane), or press Enter on a computer.
  6. Your reply shows in the chat, and your care team sees it in their BloomText inbox right away.

Send a photo or a file

You can send a picture of an insurance card or a signed form. A photo or file sends as soon as you pick it, with no extra Send step, so check that it's the right one before you choose it.

  1. Tap the paper clip next to the message box.
  2. Pick the photo or file from your phone. It sends right away and shows in the chat.
  3. To add a note about it, type it in the message box and tap Send.

For your privacy, a secure link stops working after a while. If the page says Your chat link has expired:

  1. Tap Text me a new link.
  2. Check your phone. A new link arrives at the phone number your care team has for you.

If the new link doesn't arrive, or the page says Your chat link is invalid, call or text your care team and ask them to send a new one.

Do I need an account?

No. BloomText sign-up is for healthcare staff. If you find the BloomText sign-up page, click Patient sign-in next to Getting messages from a clinic?. The page says Patients sign in on the BloomText app and asks you to contact your provider if you can't find their text. Nothing is created. To talk to your care team, reply to their text or open their secure link.

Use the BloomText app instead

If you'd rather keep your care team's secure messages in one place, you can install the BloomText app on iPhone or Android. On a phone, the secure chat may offer a link to the app.

  1. On the app's sign-in screen, choose Patient.
  2. Enter the phone number or email your care team has for you.
  3. Type the 6-digit code BloomText texts or emails you. There's no password.

While you're signed in to the app, new secure messages arrive there as a notification instead of a text with a link. Regular texts still arrive in your phone's messages.

Stop getting texts

  • To stop texts from your care team's number, reply STOP to one of their texts.
  • If you change your mind later, reply START to the same number.
  • You can also tell your care team how you'd like them to reach you.

Good to know

  • Reply in the secure chat, not to the email notice. The secure chat keeps your health details private; email replies are not secure.
  • If you're not sure a text is from your care team, call their office using a number you already know.
  • For help with the page itself, tap Need help? at the top of the secure chat.
