For Patients & Families
Join a video visit from a link
Your care team sent you a video visit link. Here's how to join from your phone or computer browser, check your camera and microphone, and get into the call.
Who can do this: Patients and families · No account needed
When your therapist, clinic or care team starts a video visit (a telehealth appointment), they send you a video visit link by text or email. The link opens the visit in your web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You don't need an account or an app.
Before you start
- Find a quiet, private spot with good light.
- Use Wi-Fi if you can. It's usually steadier than mobile data.
- On a computer, use a current version of Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox.
Join the visit
- Tap the link in the text or email from your care team.
- Under What's your name?, type the name your care team will see, for example your child's name and yours.
- Tap Continue.
- When your browser asks to use your camera and microphone, tap Allow.
- On Verify your Settings, check that you can see yourself in the camera preview. If the wrong camera or microphone is picked, choose another one from its list.
- Tap Continue.
- Tap Join with video.
You're in the visit. When it's over, hang up to leave.
On a phone, the setup comes one step at a time: Can you see yourself? for the camera, then Verify your audio for the microphone.
If your camera or microphone isn't working
- On the Join the Meeting page, tap Check settings to go back to the camera and microphone check.
- If you tapped Block when the browser asked, allow the camera and microphone for this page in your browser's settings, then reload the link.
- Close other apps that might be using the camera, such as another video call.
- If the camera is off, the button reads Join with audio only. You can still join and talk.
Good to know
- Don't share the link with anyone who isn't joining the visit.
- If the link doesn't open or you're running late, call or text your care team and ask them to send the link again.
