Use the desktop app every day
Keep BloomText open all day on your work computer, spot new texts from the taskbar or Dock, and reply without a browser tab.
Who can do this: Everyone · Desktop
The BloomText desktop app gives you the same chats as the web app, in its own window. Leave it open during your shift. When a new text arrives, the app icon lets you know, so you don't need to keep a browser tab open.
Before you start
Start your day
- Open BloomText from the Start menu on Windows, or from the Dock or Applications folder on a Mac.
- If you see the Sign in to BloomText screen, type your email and password, then click Log in. Otherwise the app opens straight to Chats, your Inbox.
- The app checks for updates each time it opens and lets you know when a new version is ready.
Read and reply to a new text
- When a text arrives, the chat moves to the top of your chat list and shows as unread. If the window is in the background, the taskbar icon on Windows or the Dock icon on a Mac shows a badge.
- Click the chat to read it.
- Type your reply in the Type your message... box.
- Click Send (the paper-plane button), or press Enter.
Your reply shows in the thread for everyone on your team who shares the chat.
End your day
- On Windows, closing the window quits the app.
- On a Mac, closing the window keeps BloomText running in the Dock. Click the Dock icon to bring it back, or press Command+Q to quit.
- On a shared computer, log out before you leave so the next person can't see your chats.
Good to know
- Run one copy of the app at a time. If you open BloomText again while it's running, the open window comes to the front.
- The first time you open the app, it shows a notification. Allow notifications so your computer can alert you to new messages.
- The Mac app needs macOS 12 or later.
- If you can't install apps on your work computer, use BloomText in a browser at app.bloomtext.com.
